The Microsoft Writing Style Guide (earlier known as Microsoft Style for Technical Publications) is perhaps one of the best known (if not one of the most comprehensive guidance) for technical publications available publicly.
Widely still known as MSTP in technical writing circles even after migrating to a website, the Microsoft Writing Style Guide can be considered to be divided into two major parts:
- General style guidelines, divided into several parts describing various aspects of content standards at Microsoft, such as grammar, style, accessibility, audience orientation, elements of UI, and so on.
- An alphabetical dictionary of terms commonly used in technical writing.
